How to (can you?) read and parse data from a text file?
  • I'm designing a quiz-style game. I have a (text) file of questions and a file of answers. I want to be able to pick a random question from the question file and display it, and pick a number of answers from the answer file (one of which is correct, obviously) and display those.

Using a list object seems a good way to store the data, but what I don't see is any way to populate the list at runtime, or even to import a list from a text file into the editor (which would be fine too, if a little expensive on memory).

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Lindsay

  • @Lindsay Currently there is no action to load data from a text file to populate a List Data component. This could be done by writing code if you know AS3 or by manually entering the entries into a List Data component.
